Does anyone know why floatplane doesn't allow single-use credit cards for payment? Is it something that has increased costs for them in comparison with normal cc or is it just one of those business decisions?

I get that it's recurring payment, but I pay once a year and I don't mind entering the details every so often if it helps me retain the control of my expenses.

Having to go around that restriction made me feel like subscribing to those sites that base their model around people forgeting to cancel the subscription if they don't use the service anymore.

I don't mean prepaid cards.

Have you tried one of those services that makes virtual cards?

I mean a single use virtual credit card for online shopping. For all intentions and purposes it's like a normal credit card since it's issued by an entity which is legally a bank. The difference from normal card is that it will expire after a single use. (meaning after each use I get a new card number generated for my next purchase) Personally I'm using Revolut for that.

Its most likely because of subscription model and how their payment processor/bank sees it. Meaning that it needs to be valid over the next payment in case you don't cancel.
