This R9 290 or This GTX 780?

So stuck up between the R9 290 Vapor X ($579) which just came in stock here in Australia a couple of days ago. Or the EVGA GTX 780 FTW DUAL ACX ($659)

Close call cant go wrong with any of them i would get r9 290 cause of better cooling

R9 290 because it is less expensive and has better cooling. Performance is about the same, so you can't go wrong with either of them.

i would say the R9 290 just cause of better performance in games thanks to mantle it is also better for bang to the buck

They perform about the same, so 290 because it is cheaper

Go for the r9 290. With free sync being released soon i think there is no reason to buy an nVidia GPU anymore. The r9 290 also has more vRAM.

Isn't free sync the same as g sync? 

No, nvidia is using a proprietary hardware while amd is using the display port standard to push out standardization of display port.

Which means higher adoption of adaptive sync which is (FreeSync). And also lower prices for screens using it since they dont use proprietary hardware like nvidia does with G-Sync.

I just got a 780 ftw a couple days ago and it is a beast. Got the mem +700 and core +200. I would go 780.

Having owned both cards, the R9-290 has more raw power.  The amount of power you can push through that card is unreal.  The 2 that I've owned have been able to overclock really well +200 on both core/memory!  The 780 I had was great and performed very well, just didn't seem as fun as NVidia locks them down :(

I got my Asus r9 290 direct cu ii OC on 1200 core/1500 memory, its a fecking beast, just like my 7950 was.
