I need some help. I have a 500GB WD Blue SSD that I have used for secondary storage and recently changed to primary storage device and whenever I download a game or load a demanding application on my pc my whole pc locks up and struggles to open other applications or use them but goes back to normal when I stop the download. Included with this I have determined that the same SSD makes a weird beeping sound/pattern when doing this weird freezing included in the audio file (You can hear it over the fans and I can normally hear the beeping when I take my headphones off). occasionally when installing steam games I can get the error code disk write error. can anyone help me find out if this is my SSD failing or anything else to help resolve it.

Can you post a screenshot of Crystaldiskinfo? And maybe run a CrystalDiskMark to see if speeds are fine. Though backup important files before any of this in case the drive is bad.

Here is a screenshot of the WD SSD in CrystalDiskInfo

Smart look clean.

Ps. What type of download. the game download can hit the SSD hard, as it’s decompressing it on the fly.
and the torrent download will just kill any SSD performance, as it also hit it hard.

I would suspect the PSU first for that noise, but only suspect, can't be sure. If you can borrow PSU from somebody, and swap PSU for a different one, and see if it helps, it would be great.

For the problems, it could also be unstable CPU, or RAM,  or the PSU (making the CPU or ram unstable), or the SSD. hard to tell.

What's the utilization of the SSD, when downloading?

I am getting a new psu soon so I can see if that will help and when I download games the ssd will be at 20% usage in task manager when it starts to go weird.

Almost sounds like a network card problem. Or maybe a cable modem problem.

Does it do the same thing if you try using the other SSD, or when you copy files from drive to drive?

When I download to the other SSD it is completely fine it is only this one SSD that does it. I have taken the SSD out of the pc case and listened to it closely and determined that it is coming from the SSD.

What if you copy files from one drive to the other?

If you're sure it's a failed drive, then it's time to replace it.
