PC locks up during windows install

Had an issue a month ago where windows would lock up and I would have to hard restart. Reinstalling windows fixed my issue until now. I tried to reinstall windows again but now it locks up during the install process. 

Everything that I've tried so far:

• Removed graphics card and using integrated graphics
• 1 stick of ram in different slots
• checked all power connectors
• 2 different usbs for installing windows 10 and 11 one was brand new
• reseated cpu
• bios is updated to newest bios and even downgraded a version
• 1 storage drive in at a time
• unplugged all usbs except mouse, keyboard, and windows usb
• XMP is off
• Bios is 100% default

My specs:

• Intel 13600k stock speed and voltage
• EVGA 3080 XC3
• MSI z690 PRO-A wifi
• Corsair DDR5 5600 32GB (2x16gb)
• 1TB Samsung 980 NVMe M.2
• 1TB Western Digital blue
• 1TB Samsung 860 EVO
• EVGA 1000 GT supernova psu
• Noctua D15 Cooler

Did you try multiple drives or only one of them for the windows install?

 

If you’re trying to use that 980 and you did not update the firmware, if it was running on old firmware it may have committed suicide: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/samsung-980-pro-ssd-failures-firmware-update

I'd definitely try installing on one of the SATA drives, if you haven't already, with barebones set of parts installed to check for minimal functionality.

I did say in my list I tried 1 drive in at a time. the Firmware issue was with the 980 pros, but I also did check the firmware in samsung magician and had no updates for it when I first heard about the issue. I tried to install to the 860 EVO and got the same results

Most likely bad CPU, RAM, or mobo. Probably not RAM as one stick should have worked.  Possibility also that it’s the PSU throwing bad power and causing instability.
 

This is where you start replacing hardware one at a time or take it to a repair shop and have them test.
