Discord Suggestion: Disable markdown in public-chat

Was hoping this feature would remain in limbo indefinitely... but alas.

Should now be blocked -- appreciate the suggestion. For future reference, most of the Discord team has open DMs.

There is nowhere else to post this suggestion that makes sense, so im posting it here.

 

Is it possible to have markdown disabled server wide, at least for public-chat?

 

Since discord added the new markdown extras, public-chat in discord looks like this:

many users especially newer users, are abusing the markdown features and its just becoming irritating and makes the public-chat seem very childish and offputting to actual conversation.

just uhh fyi, the forum and the discord sever have different moderation and admin teams…

im aware, but theres no process in place for reaching out to the discord admin/mod team, so this is my next best option, hoping that somebody from the forum team could hand this over to the discord team
