I mean, considering it's a single core CPU, you're not going to have a great modern experience with most OSs, I assume by alternative you mean a CrOS alternative? A lightweight Linux distro might be your best bet there.

- Debian with a lightweight DE (XFCE4 might be usable?)
- Puppy Linux (I haven't used this for a while (since 2015-2016?) but it's apparently not bad)

It also depends on how much RAM you have, since that can get filled fast then you'll be swapping to what I assume is an older HDD.

You could just throw Ubuntu at it and run a basic desktop environment like MATE or LXDE.

That CPU may as well be a Dorito though; the OG Atom CPUs are about as fast. What do you plan on doing with this thing? Is getting a used Sandy Bridge era (or newer) laptop or office PC a viable option for you?

I sold my soul for ProSupport.
