you don't lol... i play OW with controller,  im better than like 50% of players (and i never really played a FPS before) and Ive seen god tier players using a controller (since the game is crossplay) and aiming is very... uh, difficult, in this game, so nah, don't necessarily need kbm...

i do prefer Sony controllers, however they're extremely flimsy... I've been using my xbox 360 controls for OW though since the shoulder buttons just give better feedback for shooting, which now eventually gave up the ghost after over 15 years!

Now i got a new regular Xbox controller and its almost the same, except the Dpad is clicky! (great for fighting games)

Yeah, you said you hate the Xbox layout,  but i cant quite understand it, the only real difference was always the Dpad ...

Thats my recommendation anyway,  dont get the Elite (its awful) get the regular one.

Thing feels very sturdy,  just like 360 controller,  compared to whatever Sony has on offer.

Hi all, looking for some advice. I have been a controller gaming nerd for all my life, starting with the PS 1. I have always had a place in my heart for PS style (symmetric) controllers, always hated the XBOX style ones. With that said, I have been using the junky logitech gamepad controllers (wired and wireless models) for the past few years and found them to get progressively worse with each succeeding one that I purchased. Each one has either gotten horribly unfixable stick drift or has a broken trigger. I have opened them up to try to repair them, I'm a cheapwad its what I do, and had no success. The only thing that I really liked about this model was the compatibility with XBOX games.

I play Star Wars Battlefront II and older FPS and RPGs. Honestly, I try to take good care of my controllers, I keep them nice and clean and safe on my desk. I was wanting some advice as to a good controller model that had the PS style layout, but was of decent build quality and can take more than 1 month of usage. I am fine with wired or wireless models.

AND (and this is to all the trolls who want to say that I am a loser for using controllers) PLEASE DO NOT SAY THAT I NEED TO GET A MOUSE AND KEYBOARD! I hate that style of gaming. I have my mouse and keyboard config that I like and I use it for work and college. I have tried gaming with keyboard and mouse and in my opinion, they suck. I will take the lower movement and control any day to play with what I am comfortable with.

It isn't too bad, I still can keep up with the keyboard mouse ninjas, lol.

But anyway, thanks in advance guys!

Well, if you don't want to deal with drifts then I think your only option is to get a hall effect sensor ones.

The only brand that I know is using that kind on their controller : https://www.gulikit.com/Products

Not that I ever tried them mind you, I'm cheap so I'm still using my Dualshock 4 controllers for some games and replaces the analog everytime they start drifting 😂

There is approximately 99% chance I edited my post

Thanks. This is exactly the stuff that I am looking for. I am so sick of the junk that is pedaled in the tech market these days.

I use a PlayStation 5 controller for a lot of my games on PC and it works great! You can even play Star Wars Battlefront II that way!  The easiest way imo is to go to Steam Big Picture mode, find a config that matches the keyboard commands to a controller and then you can use the controller to play Battlefront!!! I am doing that on my Steam Deck and that is amazing.

Might have to give that a try and then do some modding with the hall joystick parts that poink just mentioned.

Well. Gulikit did post on twitter or somewhere that they intend to make a hall effect joystick module for Dualsense Edge somewhile ago.

No idea when it will be released or whether or not they (Gulikit) would continue the plan.

There is also this thing that I bought but not yet tried using, not in the mood to solder stuffs right now :

Though if you do end up trying to mod Gulikit's hall effect joystick into dualshock or something and it works, please do tell me how 😂

I sure will. I am in the process of fixing a broken laptop, replacing some mosfets and such. I might pick up this part and throw it into my controllers or some new ones that I find.
