New gpu?

Go to solution Solved by QuantumSingularity,

OP, sent you a PM, but here is an used Red Devil 6900XT with warranty which can be had for less than €500 (1000 BGN)

https://www.olx.bg/d/ad/red-devil-rx-6900xt-ultimate-16gb-bg-garantsiya-CID632-ID94ezG.html

Currently here in Bulgaria we have EXTREMELY good 2nd hand prices on hardware with more than 12-16 months of warranty. From what i've seen so far, these are some of the best 2nd hand deals in the world right now. New price completely suck though, like in the rest of the EU.

Budget (including currency): 500 - 900 BGN

Country: Bulgaria

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: I might use it for occasional gaming if I like the game but I don't play much games at all apart from MTG Arena which any gpu will handle. But apart from that I use it in everyday situations but I guess it might be useful if i have more modern gpu if i do decide to play something as my current gpu is old and i feel like it might be time to upgrade it anyway. I watch a lot of anime and usually use mpv with anime4k upscaler to get a better version of the anime.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

The reason I am posting is to get an opinion on if I should upgrade and what to look for. I have gtx 1060 6gb model right. I think if i decide to upgrade it will most likely be the rtx 4060 series but it seems that this generation is somewhat more expensive looking compared to before and there might be some issues in the future if the reports for the vram is accurate and is going to be 8 gb. As i said i am looking for a second opinion if i should even upgrade. I saw the recent ai development but i guess there isn't anything that useful for me at this very moment but you can always make the argument that if something that you would genuinely use is released you can upgrade then. There is nvidia rtx super resolution and microsoft's super resolution for edge but I can't say how useful will they be for me as I can't try them and nvidia might be working on something better in the future for their next series that is more general solution and not rely on a browser or even just more useful tools. So as things stand right now i am more tilted in the camp of just waiting and is about 30 or 40 % to 60-70% in favor of waiting for now but what do you think i should do? Is rtx super resolution a good feature if someone is using it? I can honestly say that watching with anime4k on is worlds apart from just normal so i can be convinced if there is something useful that i can use.

hi. if you are getting the fps that you want then stay with the 1060 it is not a bad card. if you want to upgrade i urge you to go amd. they have more vram and overall a much better prise to performance. but i can not predict what the 4060 or 7600xt will be like so.....

Hi. Thanks for the recommendation. I was considering amd but I don't think it will fit my use case. I will mainly use it to upscale. I don't expect to play much games and if I do I think it will be fine with dlss. As far as I know amd cards are not really suited for any kind of video processing where cuda is always better and i think in general nvidia is more focused on ai stuff than amd. I think i will most likely skip the upgrade this time unless something interesting gets released.

used 3060ti for $300 now on ebay, more power than a 2080 super.

OPs bulgarian, used international market on ebay is not that viable. Local? maybe.
