Do I need to update BIOS?

Hi!

 

I have had problems many times with MB BIOS version not supporting new gen CPU without fresh update.

 

How do I know if the purchased Gigabyte B760M DS3H will work with I5-13400f without updating the BIOS version with a 12th gen CPU?

The Intel 700-series chipset was designed for 13th gen. It's the 600-series boards that require a BIOS update for Raptor Lake.

 

If there's any doubt, you can find out what CPUs it supports by checking the manufacturer's documentation.

That motherboard supports 13th gen, going back to the very first BIOS version.

The production label on the side of the motherboard box usually has the BIOS version. That can be checked against the CPU QVL list for the motherboard.
