Suggestions on CAD build 2.5k

Hello everyone,

I would like to get some input on a build for CAD use (Autodesk AutoCAD 2D and 3D workloads, Autodesk Inventor, mainly).

I know that these programs depend mostly on single core performance.

What would you pick between a 13700k and a 7700x, considering that the Intel costs 395 while the AMD is 265?

I wouldn't go all the way to a i9 or R9 as I don't see much value in those chips for this kind of workload but I'm open to be proven wrong.

For the motherboard I was looking at one of the options in the Asus CSM list, no particular needs, would be nice to have 2.5 or 10g ethernet.

GPU wise it looks like the options available in this price range are RTX A4000 or RTX A4500

I am thinking about using a consumer GPU but I'm not sold on it. I would rather have something from the certified graphics hardware list

https://www.autodesk.com/support/system-requirements/certified-graphics-hardware/inventor

Budget (including currency): 2400 - 2600 EUR (excluding VAT)

Country: Italy

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: AutoCAD, Inventor

Thank you for your input

Here is an example build that I could go with

NZXT H5 Flow (91 eur) do I need extra fans?

Corsair RM850X (135 eur)

ASUS Prime B650-Plus CSM (187 eur)

AMD Ryzen 7 7700X (264 eur)

Noctua NH-U12S (74 eur)

Kingston 2x32GB 6000mt/s DDR5 CL36 with expo profile (237 eur)

RTX A4000 (1024 eur)

Samsung 990 Pro 1TB (95 eur)

Logitech MX Keys (76 eur)

Logitech MX Master 2S (59 eur)

Logitech mousepad (29 eur) I'm sorry LTTSTORE

Total 2271

banned from forums 😛

Your current build would work.

I'd personally go with 13600K/13500 for more cores and more multi-tasking fun. Especially for CAD work, since you probably have a bunch of stuff running while using inventor/autocad (at least I do personally XD)

The NH-U12S is not optimal for the 7700X. Something like the AK500 or AK620 are reasonably priced and will do a better cooling job.

I'd suggest an i7-13700(F) with a B760 motherboard or an i7-13700K(F) on a Z790 motherboard. CPU cooler could be one of the ones mentioned in the previous paragraph.

The 850W PSU is far more capacity than needed. A 650W model is sufficient, even for an A4500.

The two stock fans should be sufficient for the build. Adding PWM fans may allow for quieter operation.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

thank you all for your feedback.

will the 13700 or 7700x requires win 11 for proper use of their new architectures or will win 10 work?

Here is what I ended up with.

Corsair 4000D airflow outfitted with Noctua Redux 2x140mm (front) and 1x120mm (rear)

Corsair RM750X 750w

ROG Strix B760-F (really hoping RGB accents can be switched off)

Corsair Vengeance 2x48GB 5600 CL40 (picked from MB memory supported list)

i7-13700k

Noctua NH-D15S black version

Crucial P5 Plus 1tb

RTX A4000

Not the most bang for the buck system but still, should be fine?

I will update with pictures
