I'm looking for a redundant storage method to backup family data, and for now I'll settle on RAID 1 mirror

It is to my understanding that hard drives from the same manufacturing process, or the same batch, tend to fail close to each other.

I currently have a Seagate Iron Wolf 8TB, and I wonder if hardware raid (Sabrent dual 3.5' raid enclosure) allows a Seagate Barracuda 8TB to be matched with it

This is the raid enclosure: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09NMSS4QB/ref=ewc_pr_img_1?smid=A29Y8OP2GPR7PE&th=1

Id probably just get 2 seperate external hdds. Then you can backup to the different drives. I'd leave one unplugged so ransomware isn't a concern. This method also removes the enclosure and raid as a failure mode.

I woudln't worry about this, just get anouther drive. Id stay away from barracuda drives as there smr.

But just get external hdds. There often cheaper and come with the case.
