Aorus GTX 1080, refill maybe?

So I'm thinking about trying a refill as I can feel the rad is only half full of liquid, the question is, what liquid and method, has anyone successfully done it? 

 

Planning to take the cold plate off for refilling, if that doesn't work, my options are cutting the tube and adding fittings or my least favourite option, dilling the rad tank end and adding a fill port with some kind of braising/adhesive

Wouldn't a syringe then something to patch the hole be easier than cutting?

 

I've thought about it with some of the older AIOs I have, and a syringe was likely going to be my first attempt since its very unintrusive comparably.

Why not two syringes then? One to add water and one to remove air?

I think fittings have a good tract record, not much track record patching unknown rubber/plastics tubing

I would personally just fill through the cold plate. My only worry would be the oring though. Just be careful with it. I haven't been able to find replacements online and it's an odd shape. I mean that is the method I will be trying first, if that can't be done for some reason then I will be looking at the other options.

Worst case scenario, as long as you can attach fittings to the block you could always just rebuild the AIO loop, even if the pump fails.

 

I've had AIOs since before 2017 that are still trucking, though going from the cold plate side might be the best idea overall since there's likely some fouling to remove in the cooling channels.

 

If you were to do that, you'd probably be best off just replacing the fluid entirely with a mixture you can validate the % of. There's a specific fluid they use in most AIOs that prevent them from getting destroyed while they're transported across the country in potentially subzero temperatures.

Do what I've done multiple times.

 

Buy a small reservoir without pump

Cut the tubes

Attach fittings

Attach extra tube with fittings to connect to the old tube and reservoir

Drain and fill accordingly

 

It's by far the best way to do so.

Issue with these is that usually opening the block is a death sentence. Which is really annoying.

 

If you can even open the block as it wouldn't be the first time they prevented that.

Watched a tear down on that card. Looks like there might be a fill port right on the pump block.
