is my mobo compatible with cpu

Yes, it will be compatible you just need to update the BIOS on your Motherboard first.

Have you tried turning it off and on again? Maybe Restart it?

Fair warning, that motherboard needs a compatible cpu to upgrade the bios. It doesn’t support flash back of any kind. 
 

That cpu and board have both been out for long enough that there’s a very very good chance it comes with a compatible bios out of the box though. 

I'm not actually trying to be as grumpy as it seems.

and if i dont have a compatible cpu ill just need to look into another mobo?

If that’s the board you want, I’d get it. If it doesn’t work AMD has a loaner CPU program. They’ll loan you one that will work for you to update the bios. It takes a bit of time, but it’s doable.

i found another b550,pc part picker says that it is compatible and its still in my budget range.
the mobo is the MSI Pro B550M-P Gen3
