my pc is powering up but not starting

hi guys i need some help, i changed the cooler to my pc and when i put the pc back together it ran smoothly hardware wise or it looks like it i guess, every thing is getting power but nothing is showing on the screen the screen shows that it's receiving signal from the pc but windows is not starting.

what could the problem be?

try reseating your cpu/gpu and your RAM too. This is normally a problem with either of the three. Do you have any debug lights lighting up?

i just noticed that the rams didn't light up I'll check what's up with that, thanks for the help

I like to differentiate between two different behaviors. In this scenario, that would be whether it shuts down with a press of the power button, or from holding down the power button for a few seconds.

 

If it powers down from this state after a press of the power button, its likely not POSTing. If it powers down from this state after a long press of the power button, then its potentially BOOTing with no display output.

 

Its not a sure shot, but is a point of differentiation that's helped me troubleshoot this issue over the years.

 

A next step would involve removing hardware. If it seems to be POSTing, and easy one is removing the boot drive to force it to the UEFI. If its doesn't seem to be POSTing, then as other people described with reseating/removing GPU/RAM/etc.
