Moving across country with my computer

Gotcha thanks but unfortunately not in the US and all the PC stores around me don't have anti-static bags available that are big enough for my hard drives.

Just wrap em in paper towels or newspaper or whatever. It's not statically charged or conductive.

Hey guys not sure if this is the right part of the site to ask about this but I'll be moving soon for college across country and I'll be taking a plane and I need some help and advice with how I should transport my computer.

Currently I plan to disassemble most of the parts leaving the chassis pretty much empty and hand carrying my HDD and SSDs with me along with my GPU and Motherboard but I do plan on leaving the CPU in the

Motherboard socket but I don't know if that's safe? I didn't wanna bring the CPU box since it's really bulky but if I have to do so to make sure it's safe please do tell.

Everything else besides that will be pretty much be put in their original box. Another concern I have right now is they don't have any anti-static bags big enough for my HDD

and I was thinking of using paper bags to use as an alternative as that's what I've seen to do online,

is that still viable advice or is that misinformation? I was going to order it online but it would take 2 weeks and my flight is in a week so that was poor planning on my part.

Take out GPU, and CPU Cooler.  CPU is fine in the socket, it isn;'t going anywhere with the Cooler off.

Grab some anti static bags at any local computer store or order on Amazon or any of the other fast shipping companies.

Even Walmart has them... and if you're in the USA, there is a Walmart within 15 minutes of you.   Even in the reddest of neck areas.

Gotcha thanks but unfortunately not in the US and all the PC stores around me don't have anti-static bags available that are big enough for my hard drives.

You wouldnt want to stack them all in one, ideally individual bags. But yeah the only one youll really need to protect is the GPU and air cooler if applicable. Because both of those are the main torquing product that would destroy your PC.

Odd comment, since usually you put 1 drive in 1 bag.  You don't need to suitcase them all 🙂
