Good morning/afternoon all,

Looking for a little guidance (I've dealt with this problem in the past, but this time around, perplex) on the "Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recover."  So in a nutshell, the issue is when playing games, in particular (since these are the two I am playing currently) WoW and CoD Modern Warfare II.  In any event, I will play fine for lets say 5-10 minutes no hitching, everything is smooth, etc.  Then I will get a few second lock up (10-30 seconds) and then it will be fine for a few minutes and it will happen again.  On the 4th or 5th time doing this, the system will restart.  This is something that just started this week and finally getting around to trying to sort it out.   Any thoughts on what else I should take a look at.  Below are what I have done thus far and system specs.

So what have I done thus far.  First and foremost, I have confirmed I am not overheating.

1. Safe Mode - DDU the nVidia Drivers and reinstall with 531.68.

2. Update all Chipset Drivers for motherboard.

3. Checked Windows Updates.

4. Disabled hardware acceleration.

I suppose I could pull the graphics card, reseat it in the vertical mount and reseat vertical mount to motherboard.

I do want to mention peripherals.  I am running a Razer Viper (so obviously synapse is running) and a Corsair K70 MK2 mech keyboard.  Both are brand new and about 2 months old.

System Configuration - I built this in January 2023

AMD 7900x

Asus ROG Strix X670E-A Gaming Wifi

32 gb - Corsair Vengeance RGB 6000 MHz C36 (2x16)

Windows 11 - Build 22621

EVGA RTX 3080TI FTW3

EVGA Supernova 1000 P6

Case: Hyte Y60

SSDs - 2x 980 Pro 2TB and 1x 980 Pro

1TB

Thanks.

It's been stable on Windows 11 since it was built. As far as 10, i assume same issue, but I know I won't go through the exercise of reinstalling for 10.   From what I can tell so far, it doesn't appear OS related.  I am going to grab a 4080 and pop it in for testing and see if I can isolate the card and/or riser card first.

Turns out 3080ti is the issue.  Swapped riser cards, same issue.  Dropped in new graphics cards with old riser cable, no issues.
