Budget (including currency): ~ 2222 €

Country: Slovakia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Gaming (HALO, DOOM, Stellaris, Minecraft[possibly hosting server] ), Occasional machine learning, VMs and coding related stuff

Goal: silent + 0RPM machine when idle with a future upgrade path (im looking at you CPU)

Note: I think i will have to resell heavily under price in case of upgrade (compared to used market of other countries) thats why i chose overkill PSU and RAM ( feel free to propose valid arguments against it 😄 )

Other details: building from scratch, upgrading from ZephyrusG14 2021 RTX3060, going to buy at the end of may, playing on 3440x1440 144Hz, my first ever own build so i feel like overkilling it

Parts:

Questions:

  1. Do i need some sort of fan hub for 0RPM when idle?
  2. I guess i need PMW fans, which noctua fans should i choose?
  3. fan config? (thinking of 2 front intakes and 1 top exhaust)
  4. Will it fit? no clearance issues?
  5. Additional tips regarding this configuration?
  6. Not sure about the MOBO, thunderbolt header seems nice but i dont feel like overclocking because i want silent machine, any recommendations?

This is probably one of the more poorly thought out things i have seen. You dont need to do 0 RPM, usually getting a good quality fans and running them at 600-850 RPM and it will be pretty silent. You will not hear them over the headphones, i wear open back so thats not an excuse. Also if you just stick your computer case a bit further away the sound will be reduced, or just get one of those be quiet! cases.

PWM not PMW* And i would suggest the 1500 RPM max fans, not the 2000-3000 ones as those will be louder.

Download Fan Control, its a wonderful desktop app that will allow you to manually control your fans without having to mess with them in bios for the most part.

If you plan on low RPMs, noctuas are probably not what you want.  they are exceptionally quiet at very high RPMs, but they are expensive.  Any fan will be quiet at low RPMs, so you should probably just save your money.

I edit the shit out of my posts.  Refresh before you respond.

I mean i run 1000-1200 and i can barely hear it over my IEMs and my AC system. Well tuned fan curves > expensive fans in keeping sound out.

thx 4 the case recommendation because im not using headphones unless i have to (rankeds in FPS) thats why i want silent machine. If 0RMP is not achieveable thats kinda sad and funny because my laptop is at 0rpm most of the time 😄
