Integrated vs Dedicated

I have a laptop that uses integrated and dedicated gpu it has an i3 5005u and a amd r5 m330 gpu

 

My question is, can i disable the integrated gpu just to use the dedicated?

I think by default it should just use the dedicated GPU, right?

No, it uses both…supposely it uses the igpu for low tasks and the dedicated for the gaming and heavier stuff but i wanna know if i can just use the dedicated because some people say yes and other say no

A quick google search says you can change it in the amd radeon settings and its something to do with how the laptop wants to save power.

no no no leave it as it is. when you are doing non gpu intensive tasks eg on the desktop or browsing the web the laptop will save power and use the igpu but when you are for example playing games it will used the dedacated gpu. leave it as is

Also the hd 5500 igpu supports modern encoding like vp9 and h265 8 bit whilst the r5 330m DOES NOT. Which means it's gonna do A LOT worse in watching youtube, streaming, video watching,.. if the igpu can be turned off.

 

If you want to turn it off look into the bios some laptops allow the setting to turn it off but most dont.
