I am sure this has already been asked, but I have had a hard time trying to find a definitive answer. I know that is considered bad to interchange psu cables, but in my sleuthing, I found the Corsair PSU Cable Compatibility list. I am running a RM750x (2018) w/ custom CableMod cables (EPS, 24-pin, PCIe, SATA, Molex; cause pump/res combo in system uses molex for power and PWM for pump speed) and am upgrading my 1660 to a 3090. Based on on my wattage calculations and allowing for power spikes, I need a 850w PSU, if I upgrade to a RM850x (2021) power supply, can I still use the custom cables I have already in my system or do I have to order a new set? I know that Corsairs compatibility list says that all RMx series use type 4 cables (for 24-pin, PCIe 8-pin, and EPS 4+4-pin) and type 3 for everything else, but that list is damned confusing at the best of times, and only shows cable compatibility for RMx (2021). Even their legacy compatibility list is useless. I just don't want to spend more money then I have have to to make this upgrade work.

does it say on the cablemod website that you can do this? Or on the corsair sight does it say that directally? I remember seeing something like that but make sure otherwise your risking your whole PC.

My First PC
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
Cooler: Asus TUF Gaming LC240
Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix B550-f gaming
RAM: 4x8 GB Corsair Vengeance RS (3200 MHz, CL16)
Storage: 1tb Samsung 980 Pro
Graphics Card: Asus Dual RTX 2060 OC
Case: Deepcool Matrexx 50
Power Supply: Corsair RM650x

Only changes I have made is I sold the 2060 for $235 AUD and bought a Powercolor Red Devil 6700 XT for $400 second hand (it was barely used, think I scored a deal on Ebay with that).
