Help finding a software for file categorizing

Recently i've recovered all the files from my mac drive, and everything is in so many sub folders like theres 4,000 of them, and i'd like to view just the important stuff like media like .mov, .jpg, documents like .docs and other files that may be important, I was wondering if theres a program out there that could let me open a folder or select a directory and view just those? Or if it can let me choose what types of files I want to view?
