Macbook considerably faster than Win11?

onis

Hi,
Just doing some testing on my new 5G connection, my Macbook pro is getting a download speed of around 450Mbps/100Mbps up and my Win11 machine on the same desk is getting 250Mbps/70Mbps.

The Mac is only on wifi5- 802.11ac with a link seed of 585Mbps and the windows 11 machine is working on wifi6 802.11ax with a connection seed of 750Mbps............and I have no idea why it would be this much slower on a PC with much higer specs?

Are you using integrated wifi or a card?

I hit 700W on an i5 with a NHD15

Also I'm 14 so please just confirm anything I say with someone more experienced

Hi, i'm using the intergrated chip on my mobo, Intel(R) Wi-Fi 6 AX200 160MHz, with 2 wifi antennae.

I have seen speeds on this PC before of over 350mbps, so just cant figure out why its so slow now, and the lesser spec'd macbook is 200mbps faster??

probably either the quality of the modem chipset, or the bandwidth that they are connected at. (my vague guess)

I agree, chipset differences such as TX power on the chipset is definitely a possibility.

I've noticed weird things on Windows too, such as needing a 160Mhz channel to get the same speed as my phone can do on 80Mhz.

Router:  Intel N100 (pfSense) WiFi6: Zyxel NWA210AX (1.7Gbit peak at 160Mhz)
WiFi5: Ubiquiti NanoHD OpenWRT (~500Mbit at 80Mhz) Switches: Netgear MS510TXUP, MS510TXPP, GS110EMX
ISPs: Zen Full Fibre 900 (~930Mbit down, 115Mbit up) + Three 5G (~800Mbit down, 115Mbit up)
