Rx 6950 xt Vs 7900 xt

MRG112

I'm at a crossroads at the moment, I've started looking at upgrading my GPU and there are 2 GPUs that seem to fit into my range. The rx 7900 xt which is currently $1400 local currency and a rx 6950 xt going for $1200 local currency. Anyone have experience with these GPUs? And which one should I buy? Is the $200 difference worth it?

What locale is that?   That's more expensive than my area!   I would try to get a 7900 xt and I would wait a bit longer - they might come down in price?  Wishful thinking?   The performance enhancement is pretty good and I wouldn't buy a 6900 xt new, at this point.   Perhaps, find one used.   But, the current prices are usually from 3rd party sellers and they're overinflated prices, usually.

@MRG112

I was doing the same calculations just last week. First. Watch some benchmarks on YouTube, and see if the games you play get the FPS you'd be happy with. While you're at it, you will probably notice that the 7900XT is only about 7% faster than the 6950XT, on average, with some games even running better on 6950XT. Now, here is what I like to do to determine what is the best bang for my money. That $200 difference, in your case, means the 7900XT is about 16% more expensive than the 6950XT. They're asking 16% more money, for 7% more performance. Honestly, it's a tough one. It's not just the pure FPS performance, of course. Here in US, the difference is larger, and 6950XT makes more sense, financially, but in your area, it's close enough in the $/frame, so since 7900XT is newer, on the new architecture, and has more VRAM (so it's more future-proof), I think it's a tie. If it was me, I'd go with 7900XT (at those prices. At US prices, I bought a 6950XT, and I'm very happy with it).
