So im going to be recording a video and i was wondering at what quality i should record. I would do 1080p 30fps but its going to last 3-4 hrs so would i be able to fit that on a regular DVD. 4.7GB is about the max capacity DVD i can buy.

I am not an expert, but i think (if compressing) you can get it to around that size.

No, You will have to compress it yourself when you render out the video most likely.

I've never done this. I have access to iMovie no after affects though. I'm shooting with a T3i

Does it have to go onto a dvd? On a t3i that much recording will take up a heck of a lot more space than just 4.7 GBs At max resolution you will be getting around 12-15mins/4GBs.

 

Also, not sure if you are aware that DSLRs have a max clip length of 30mins or 4GBs per clip, whichever is greater.

 

Ultimately where is the end product going? If you need to share it with someone, youtube or vimeo are great so that whoever you want to be able to see just has to click a link and watch without any downloading. You can also use, SKydrive/one drive. google drive, dropbox etc. to share large files with people.

I move can do that Its just when you export you will have to set is for an dvd and it will give you an file that will be playable on an dvd player. ones you beren it on to an dvd.
