can i just put the new aio on the existing paste? the aio itself already has thermal paste on it from factory, can i just put it on there and kinda mix it? im just scared the factory paste isnt good enough

ok that should be fine then. the paste will be good enough defo clean of the old paste first tho

Hello there, i just got my new AIO and am wondering if i need to repaste my cpu.

i built my oc around 3 months ago and do not have any other paste lying around

if you change your cpu coller you probbably should change your paste. even if themals are good there could be spots with not enough that dont have sencors on them

The AIO should come with some paste for you to use. Unless you went overboard on your first application of paste, there's probably not enough paste left on your CPU to reuse with a new cooler. It might be OK to remount your cooler without doing a paste swap, but replacing it with a clean cooler likely isn't.

Isopropyl alcohol to clean stuff in general is worth keeping around, which includes cleaning off thermal paste. Can generally find it at any grocery store. 70% is more general purpose since you can technically use it on wounds, something that +90% can be unwise to use on.

My non IFAK first aid is duct tape, paper towels, and IPA. Started keeping it around specifically for electronics, not only thermal paste but just cleaning electronics in general. Just don't use it on a folding phone's plastic screen.
