Hello all!

I just put together a rig with a xeon e5 1650 v4 CPU, 16gb ddr 4 ecc, 500gb Samsung sata ssd and a 2060 super 8gb.

I am only getting 80fps in MW2 at 1080p with dlss on, I tried reseating the GPU but that didn't help, shouldn't I be getting almost twice the FPS? TIA

Check your cpu usage, gpu usage, gpu temperature, cpu temperature and power and ram usage using riva tuner on mas afterburner. This will help people reading this to diagnose your problem

Seems like you got a classic cpu bottleneck. makes sense cuz its an old cpu thats meant to be deployed in a server. It seems you have a good enough cooler. if you don't want to spend any money on a new motherboard then check these best of socket 2011 cpus and choose which one of them are the better priced and good for you. Links for them down below (only ebay and amazon). for some of these extreme processors, tell me your cooler so i can tell you which is best for you

Thanks for this

All the CPUs you listed here are compatible with this z440 motherboard? Also I think it's a stock cooler?

They should all be compatible on the lga 2011 socket which is the one your cpu uses. If its a stock cooler you may need a better one for the extreme editions CPUs if you plan on getting those. I would recommend, whichever cpu you go for, to buy a hyper 212 evo with the lga 2011 adapter or one of noctuas offerings for cooler with the lga 2011 adapter even tho they're a tad expensive

This is wrong

Op already has one of the fastest gaming cpu's for their socket

Lga 2011 has 2 versions 2011 and 2011-v3 cpus are NOT intercompatible

Uh oh, so I just ordered on ebay an i7 5960x, which appears to have the same socket, Lga 2011v3. Will this give me any appreciable increase in fps?

No it will be slower than your xeon you have rn as this i7 is limited to 3.5ghz compared to the 4ghz of your xeon meaning youd give up about 15% gamijg performance.

Cancel the order its actual throwing money away

Thanks I cancelled. I over clocked using afterburner, 100 for gpu and 800 memory, and am now getting about 110fps in 1440p, is that about what I should expect with this setup?

Yeah basically if you put afterburner in split cpu useage by core view one will be pretty much maxed out and thats gonna be the limit
