Should I upgrade to a 5800X3D in the future or upgrade to Ryzen 8000 or 14th gen?

Well the question is basically in the title.

I really like stuff that I already have on the one hand. But on the other hand it might be time to get rid of my old X370 board...

One scenario would be to upgrade from the 5600 (OC) to a 5800X3D when it's price falls to under 300 Euro and maybe upgrade to 32 gigs of DDR4 just because it's so cheap and somethimes I come really close to the 16 gigs.

Or just face the fact that in the long run a platform upgrade is the better option...

Money is not really a problem as long as the value is good.

Would like to know what you think about my question.

That nobody can know until those things actually exist.

That depends on whose benchmarks you believe: the tea leaves' or the crystal ball's.

Yea sorry, I think I was a bit to specific with ryzen 8000 or 14th gen. It would be more the question if a platform upgrade would be better? Because Im not sure if the 5800X3D will be still available when the new CPUs would be at a reasonable price

Maybe not new but you'll be able to find ones on the used market for years.

That may be true but the uses market is not the best here in Germany... In my opinion...

So then get the 5800x3d now.  Enjoy it for quite a few years and especially now where it's at its peak.

Don't buy it later when it's just a stop gap measure.

Or just wait.  Asking about the future is kind of silly.

Might as well do platform upgrade next gen when ddr5 is more mature and better memory controllers

5800x3d is already matched by the 13600k in gaming, so hang on abit your jump on the 7800x3d next month

- 4000 32gb ram

what do you do with your computer

what GPU do you have and when do you plan to upgrade it

the 5800X3D is a good drop in upgrade but honestly if you aren't on a very high end GPU and if you aren't unhappy with FPS lows, then I'd just wait for a bigger upgrade.

Coming from someone who went from 10900K --> 13700K, which is IMO a much larger jump from a 5600 to a 5800X3D, I can't really say the difference is all that big to warrant the $800 price tag. Even if it was only $329 like your price tag....it's iffy.

Mostly gaming, some light video editing and some work in matlab.

I have a RX6800XT and play mostly in 1440p Ultrawide, but noticed that in some games like R6 Siege the GPU is not fully utilized. Like i said i don't need to upgrade right away, but i want to plan ahead to maybe look out for sales

there'll be times when it isn't esp. in games that are network sensitive no matter what hardware you have

Would like to know what you think about my question.

How close do you come to 16 GB used?  If you break 14GB, I would upgrade.  Windows may use pagefile as you approach 16GB so you never see like 15.99GB used.
