Loyalty Card software service

Hi everybody!

 

I've been searching online for a week or so now but I've been unsuccessful in my hunt :^(

 

I am basically wondering if there is anyone out there that has experience with creating a loyalty card service for small/boutique businesses without any pre-existing management systems in place.

 

My idea is that I want to create my own backend to host the data and then on each purchase, the loyalty card would be scanned/read and credit would be applied to that person's account. Next time, that customer can come back and spend those points for a discount or something similar. 

 

Where on earth do I go about finding out how to create these things? And assuming that I need to purchase physical cards, how am I able to set up those cards to be linked to my backend?

 

Im very curious about how this would work. For example, if the customer wanted to spend the points for a discount, how would the business know how much to discount the item and would it be possible to be calculated automatically without any manual input? Im assuming it would need to be integrated into the eftpos machine?

Yeah they have that.  My family uses one at our amusement center.  I don't know which system they use though but they already exist and are out there.  I'll try to remember to call tomorrow and find out who they use.
