Hp 8560p laptop Linux install problem

So this laptop had windows 10 installed. It has a intel core i5. Sandy bridge. I got a new dell g16 and wanted to give this laptop to a friend for free. He asked if I could put Linux on it since I was going to wipe it. I started with Linux mint . I got the installer to work but once the install was done and go to restart the laptop says no boot drive found.  So after trying many settings I gave up and tried Ubuntu. Same thing once I go to restart no boot drive found.  Any idea's on what I'm missing here? From what I can tell from the bios this is not a uefi bios.

Try running boot repair whilst booted to the live usb

or try the instructions for reinstalling grub

That's quite a new laptop.

 

Go into BeeOS and see if Sata device mode is set to AHCI, if it isn't and is set to RAID, switch it to AHCI and reinstall Linux

Found that the uefi settings were. In a location I didn't check. All is good now. Thank u.
