So on Ebay i saw some Quadro 4000's and 5000's that are pretty cheap

 

 

1st Question:

Can you use a Quadro 4000 mac on pc?

 

2nd Question:

How would a 4000 or 5000 be for a PhysX card for a 780?

It's good for accelerating programs like Autodesk Maya and Adobe After Effects.

 

But for gaming it's a huge waste of money.

Honestly, a GTX 780 will cover you as it is for even these programs. A quadro is designed for high end workstation machines. Just because Geforce cards are designed for gaming doesn't mean they're bad at other things.

Unless you plan on doing extremely complex models I wouldn't go for a professional card.

Or at least not one that costs $1,800.

 

I'd only spend over $500 on a graphics card that is intended solely for professional use if I'm actually making money from it.

Heh, i still want the 780, but on Ebay, the bid is like $150 now, so i though i should take a chance...

If you seriously plan on buying it from Ebay then go for the K4000 or K5000, even the K4000 beats the regular Quadro 5000 in Maya

This card has a reserve, most likely $500.

The GTX 780 ti outperforms the Quadro K6000 in terms of raw fps.

 

As for the compatibility of a mac pc card on a windows pc, I know for sure that certain cards work on either platform without the need for user intervention (like flashing the card) while others do not.

over 500 actually. And Unreal engine 4 is heavily supporting all the newest Physx. I hate it when people say this. Get with the times.

In their circle there is often a few acceptable games with PhysX, and then others that just seem like they're trolling by adding PhysX to the game.

2: Pysyx is just like mantle , it's good thing, but supports a very few games (unless you're into those), and for future game releases may or maynot support it as everything is advancing so fast. perfomance wise.

Just saying, a Geforce card, especially a GTX 780, will work well for both games and any workstation programs that you're likely to use.

 

Sure, the Quadro may perform moderately better, but even with that cost it simply isn't worth getting one. If you really want to bid on it, get one then sell it to someone locally for 3 times the price (or more  )

unless he wants more than 3 monitors which prof cards provide but yea I agree with you.

 

If you need multi monitors I'd go with amd, but cuda is pretty sweet.
