Hey guys about a month ago I got my Samson Meteor microphone and I luv it but the osund quality isnt as I would like it to be however this is not due to the microphone but due to me beinga complete amateur when it comes to talking into microphones lol.

I just wanted to ask.

Whats the ideal distance I should have my mouth placed from the microphone and how loud should I talk into it? Do note that this mic has a knob to increase or decrease sensitivity and I have it set a bit less than half of the way and even at this setting the microphone is pretty sensitive lol.

Specs of my PC:

without looking at the specifics of your mic a general rule is pinky to thumb distance doing the hang ten motion for a lot of standing mics.

If it's the CAD U37 you can get as close as you want.

I'm guessing it's probably your room, microphones are very dependent on what room they're in.

If they sound a bit echoey, the solution might be hanging some sound dampening material on the wall, or try to control the noisein your room better.

A cardioid, large diaphragm condenser microphone as I believe this one to be, should be fine for you to sit normally at your desk and have your microphone on your desk next to your monitor... say 1.5 feet away from you, setting your microphone up properly will take time, a general rule of thumb for someone who isn't technically minded is to download audacity (as a free piece of software there isn't really much that can beat it), this then adjust your input gain (the sensitivity) to give you as much level as you can without clipping.

If you want any more help, please message me directly, I would be more than happy to help you out with this.
