Hey guys. I am a long time lurker of the forum. I have a problem with one of my pc's. I decided to park my Ryzen that I built in 2018 for upgrades so I used an I7 for the time being and as how luck would have it I blew 2 caps last week. So now I am using my older pc a FM1 mother board with an rx 470.

Full specs

CPU AMD 8-3870K

Mobo: Asus F1A75-M LE

Ram: 2x8 GB 1600mhz ecc

GPU: AMD sapphire rx 470 platinum

Now the problem is that it reads on post 16gb but in bios it only detect 8gb memory. I tried everything. Manually dialed聽 in timings, autothe gpu( pc doesn't post at all if it's enabled with the rx470) tried msconfig, Ran memtest on both sticks. They work individual but not together. I have a few theories. First is the fact that it's ecc ram. That's my first theory then it might be the fact that both memory chips are dual rank. I have single rank memory somewhere just didn't have time to test yet. I mainly used this pc for my work web development and IT remote IT support. I do light gaming but here is the catch. I played forza horizon 5 and on any res and details level(i did try high to take some of the pressure off the cpu) it would get 15-20fps and 20% gpu usage. I Oc'd the memory from 1600mhz to 1866 mhz and BooM Forza Horizon 5 ran 60 fps on high.... I would like to think I am pretty good with computer maths but that made no sense. From 15fps to 60fps and from 20% gpu usage to 60-70%. I don't see how the ram could increase performance that much(still reads 8gb though) For some reason it doesn't detect that it's oc'd Here the the ss of Hwinfo and taskmanager. I disabled everything in the bios changed voltage etc.

If anyone know how to fix this. It would be much appreciated. She just needs to last me a couple months(In South Africa, we are the only people that would watercool a pc like this 馃ぃ)

I don't understand, you have 2 16GB sticks. They run individually but report only 8GB 馃

Even one stick of 16GB should be enough, dual channel doesn't make a huge difference

Edit : 32GB or 16GB ? Hardware reserved 8GB ? is there a big cache pagefile ?

If you don't quote us, we won't know you answered

No I have 2 x 8gb I did disable page file to see if it's a solution. It read as it's posting but when you go into bios it only reads 8gb. I will post a picture maybe tonight have a lot of work so hard to find time to do stuff.
