first build help

hey guys so i just finish my first build but when i started to wire the sata cables i notice i was missing one for the optical drive. So could i use the sata cable to use the optical drive to install windows and then turn it off and plug it back in the hard drive. I have both sata cables install on the hard drive and SSD

If you are installing your os on your ssd (of course you are) you are better off unplugging the mechanical drive all together for the install..

Because when i first installed my windows 7 on my ssd it partitioned it on the hard drive too so my pc cant boot without the hdd plugged in.

Yeah so what you want to do is completely unplug the HDD, use the sata cable for the optical drive then after install shut it down plug the hdd back in then it should be fine.
