how would i do this? Can you post your work? It has to be done by writing an equation

13x + 14y = 350

7x + 9y = 206

 

solve the system, X is senior price. Substitution is easier IMO.

 

Solve the second equation for X, so X = 206/7 - 9y/7, substitute that value for X into 13x + 14y = 350, solve for Y, then use Y value to solve for X. 

Error: 410

Im stuck on the boldded red part, specifically ive divided 7 from all the numbers but what the 9y/7 be?

9y/7 is exact value, you can't do anything with that without using decimal approximations, you leave it as is.

 

When you sub X = 206/7 - 9y/7 into 13x + 14y = 350, you get

 

2678/7 - 117y/7 + 14y = 350

you can multiply everything by 7 if dividing by 7 is bothering you.

What grade are you in? That's basic math to me.

9th our math teacher sucks. He said heres your work for today and didnt explain it and when we ask he takes 20min to explain and then it makes no sense :(

sounds like my math 11 teacher. (common trend?)  Only difference is even after the 20 minutes he can't solve it....
