Problems enabling higher RAM speeds

Go to solution Solved by Radium_Angel,

because XMP is not a guarantee.

Under the best laboratory conditions (etc) it works without issue, but in the real world? Not so much, as you are discovering.

You have two choices..manually tinker with voltages/speeds/timing and see what you get

or

leave XMP off and don't worry about it

Hello,

I bought Kingston Fury Renegade 2x16 Kit (KF432C16RB1K2/32) and I tried it running on 2666MHz since my cpu I5-10400F supports up to that speed, my motherboard is ASRock B460 Pro4 and it supports memory speed up to 2666MHz on my CPU, when I try to switch my speed manually to 2666MHz it won't boot, It just hrows error from Windows.

I understand that my RAM speed can't go over 2666 since its not a Z lineup of board but my question is, why won't it work with 2666?

MOBO docs say "- Supports Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (XMP) 2.0"

If im stuck on CL17 2400MHZ could i add more ram like my old ram for example which is 2x8 CL17 2400 in slots A2 and B2 wo it would be
A1 - 16GB
A2 - 8GB
B1 - 16GB
B2 - 8GB
