I have a Dell Latitude E5510, and whenever I install a GPU driver, it blue-screens and locks up. In Windows 10, it gives the the error VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE. In Windows 7, it just hard locks after a few seconds. I have tried using different CPUs, MANY different drivers, updating the BIOS, and replacing the RAM. Nothing seems to work. Yes, I know this is an old outdated computer, and yes I know it is slow. I still want to fix it though. Any help would be much appreciated! NOTE: The laptop has 4GB RAM and an i5-450M processor.

The error is too generic to identify a specific issue. Basically it says there is an issue with addressing your graphics card. Installing a driver will do that, because it will attempt to detect and communicate with it. Using the wrong driver would do that as well as the card running over the thermal threshold. Old laptop are much more sensitive to heat and will not withstand temperatures of modern ones. If the GPU temp is around 70C you have an issue. You want to open it up, clean it out an replace the thermal compound on CPU and GPU. Also make sure the fan is even spinning up properly. The fan should speed under load. There is also a chance that some other software you have running is interfering or the GPU has gone bad.
