Hello guys,

I have an ASROCK Q270 Pro BTC+ mainboard and a flashed SAS Raid-Controller, and to this point it is working great. (OS: TrueNas)

Now I want to upgrade the NIC with a 2.5 Gbit PCIe card   -> https://www.2direct.de/notebook-computer/interfacekarten/pci-express/4441/2-5-gigabit-pci-express-netzwerkkarte?c=194

but looks link the board is not recognising the new nic.

Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem (BIOS-settings or something simular)?

Thanks in advance

What nic is it?

Some nics can't transform from x16 down to a lower connection as they are hardwired to x16

It is this one from LogiLink

Wait it's a pcie 2.1 nic. What the hell. Thats like not even an official pcie mode. You can try forcing compatibility by going to pcie 2.0 on the slot

I tried to change the slot speed to pcie 2.0/3.0/1.0 but it did not work. Also tried using the nic in my main PC (Asrock B450 Pro4 Mainboard and Windows 11), there it worked just fine.

Also I noticed that it is marked as red on boot up.

After some testing, I found out if I put the nic in a pcie mining riser and plug it in the board, the pcie slot is recognised and I get an act/1G LED to blink on the nic.

But the os does not recognise the new nic....

So it seems linke I have to change mainboards.
