Budget (including currency): $600

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Hogwarts Legacy, New World, Battlefield

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): Want to play at 60FPS, minimum 1080p.

So in 2018 I purchased an Origin PC and its been great! Still runs everything I throw at it, but with newer games I noticed the FPS dropping.  Here are some specs of what I have..

Processor: Intel Core i7-8086k 4ghz

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

Motherboard: ASUS ROG STRIX Z370-G Gaming

I am looking at updating the video card, so something that works well with the processor/motherboard would be ideal. I have read a lot about modern GPUs and it's all confusing, where one person recommends Radeon, another recommends Nvidia for the same reasons.  The one that is sticking out to me is the GTX 3060 TI. I am not opposed to Radeon though, and I do have a budget of about $600. I don't need top of the line, but I want a boost in performance.  Any recommendations?

3060Ti isn't a good upgrade on a 1080Ti, maybe 20% faster, and not great at RT

A RX6800 is better by another 25% for same price...

But you should rather save a bit more and get a $800 4070Ti imo, then you'll get around double performance from your 1080Ti 🙂

For 600$ a used 3090 is  potentially possible if very lucky.

A 3060ti is basically not a worthwhile upgrade at all. 20% better performance and basically not ray tracing capable.

What psu do you have?

I have an EVGA 850 G3 PSU,

Thanks for the advice! Maybe I'll save some and get the 4070 Ti
