Is there any gaming related benefit from installing SteamOS/HoloIso over Windows on an old gaming pc?

centurion_08

It's all in the title. Anyone made real life comparisons in that matter? Any SteamOS exclusive features for better gaming experience?
In the matter or fact i have an old pc laying around. A 3570K with GTX 960 4GB and 8GB DDR3. Would i gain something from making it a steamnotsodeck pc?
Anyone tried it on modern high end hardware? Any reliable sources?

I think Steam OS cannot play some games due to anti cheat as they are only available for windows or mac, not linux. I wonder if it would run games a bit better since there would be less background tasks?

As SteamOS is based on Linux it might run a bit better than Windows in terms of responsiveness. However... many games are not made for Linux and are a hassle to get running. Honestly, I won't recommend running SteamOS. Again, it's your own choice
