Fans randomly start and stop spinning.

Gh0st.

Preface:
Recently upgraded a few stuff (CPU, Ram, case and fans) but it has been months since so I really doubt it causes the problem that started earlier today.

Issue:

6 of my chassis fans and tower fans randomly start and stop spinning simultaneously, completely disregarding CPU temperature.

At times my PC just shut down itself but I am not too sure if that is related to CPU thermal.

Tried resetting BIOS fans' setting but that didn't help.

Question:
I am suspecting it could be either PSU or Motherboard issue. Any thoughts or help would be much appreciated!

Related Information:
Tower fans are connected via Y-splitter to cpu_fan1 and the rest are all connected via hubs to cpu_fan2.

Specs:

Hyte Y60

ASRock B450 Pro4
AMD Ryzen 5600
CM Hyper 212 Black Edition CPU Air Cooler with 2 Fans
Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro SL 3600MHz 32GB Kit

Gigabyte RTX 3060 Ti GAMING OC 8G

Gigabyte P650 Bronze
TUF Gaming TF120 ARGB x 6
Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM Chromax Black x 2

First of all, why are all of your 6 TF120 ARGB fans tied to single CPU_FAN2 via a hub?

I'm gonna assume that the fan hub you're using is like the image below, is a simple fan hub without external power.

OIP.JQLdvmgq-7fxHfiIFIMo5QHaFj?pid=ImgDe

This is a big no-no, because, all 6 are drawing (at worst) ~18W (1 fan is according to ASUS, is ~3W) of power on a SINGLE fan header (CPU_FAN2).

I'm assuming that you have 3 intake and 2+1 outtake for your Y60 case. It's best if you split them up using 3-way splitter.

AP is correct.  Too many fans on one connector.

I've been using computers since around 1978, started learning programming in 1980 on Apple IIs, started learning about hardware in 1990, ran a BBS from 1990-95, built my first Windows PC around 2000, taught myself malware removal starting in 2005 (also learned on Bleeping Computer), learned web dev starting in 2017, and I think I can fill a thimble with all that knowledge. 😉 I'm not an expert, which is why I keep investigating the answers that others give to try and improve my knowledge, so feel free to double-check the advice I give.

My phone's auto-correct is named Otto Rong.🤪😂

Hi, thanks for responding! After splitting the 8 chassis fans to cha_fan1 and cha_fan2, the issue still remains, and my pc shuts down randomly too. Is this an indication of PSU problem?

I'm not sure if it's a PSU or motherboard problem. The route is to narrow down which is the issue.
