Just built a computer and powersupply turns mobo lights on but clicks once and no post

Found the issue when I got home. Took me a bit but in the top left side just short above the cpu there's a 8-2 power connector. My dad had plugged to use all slots but I removed one and it seemed to have booted up with no issues at all. So for future buyers may need to know this if it is a issue since the mobo did not mention it was probably not needed

im using a HX1000i with a Asus Strix b650e-f but when I press the power button on my case it doesn't do anything but click once. Motherboard lights are on (only on IO shield). No fans move and nothing happens

 

Does anyone know what I could do to post?

 

Build:

Ryzen 9 7950x

Rtx 4070ti 

Corsair dominator 

Asus Strix b650e-f

Samsung Evo 970 elite plus

Corsair Airflow 7000d

Corsair h150i (AIO)

Kingston ssd (don't remember the name)

Check your motherboard header pins and make sure you've plugged the "power sw" into the right pins on the motherboard. They are annoying, but it's easy to get them wrong.

Remove the 4070Ti and check if it boost with the integrated GPU.

I was thinking to try that when I got off work today. Was wondering if it was pushing too much for a initial start. If that works would it be fine later or would I need to bump up my psu

the HX1000i is MORE than enough for your rig. I am using a 750w with a 7700x and RTX 4080.

If you hear an audible click then it is shutting down bcoz of power issues(tripping something/unhappy capacitors/shorts).... check system without GPU with iGPU and further test PSU and motherboard.

I have cross referenced this both with online imagery and the user manual for motherboard

I did not recognize that as a part number, skipped it completely, when reading the specs in the lower part it wasn't written again so...

 

That PSU is more than enough. A short click and no POST means there's a short.

Check everything, maybe there's a fan plugged into an RGB headder or something.

There is a fan controller that comes with the case, is it possible that since it's plugged into a USB header (think that's where we thought to put it, it fit) maybe it caused that

Try disconnecting everything non-essential and retry.

Is the CPU cooler properly installed? Do any fans spin at all, even very briefly?

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
