I cleaned my pc and changed the thermal paste. It started normally and then i resarted it. There was a pop sound and spark from back of my cpu and i can smell somthing burnt.

I immediately removed my gpu and tried to turn on but it didn't start.

After few days i arranged psu for temporary basis to check whether my psu died or what was the issue.

It seems psu died for unknown reason all other parts were completely fine including gpu.

Electrician checked the power socket and it was also fine.

So i am not able to understand what could be the possible reason and whyy?

My psu is only 2.5 yrs old.

My specs-

i5 12400f

8 * 2 ddr4 ram

Rtx 3050 gigabyte eagle

Gigabyte 450 w bronze (450b) psu

Asus prime h610m-e mobo

Possible something was just faulty with it. Things happen.

Ya got lucky it didn't take things with it as power supplies can do when they fail.

I had the same-ish happen to one of my previous PSU's once. Was only 2 weeks old, and I was just finished building my pc. (worked just fine before putting everything into the case, had it running as a pile of parts before/doing case mods and such in the mean time) It can just happen, without any reason.

You however found the offending part. Replace it, make sure it's connected properly, and enjoy your PC! (maybe a screw or something else dropped in the PSU? Who knows)

I can't suggest any good PSU's. But look for a name-brand one. (you started with "a" namebrand, but they also make junk-tier ones... + just bad luck) I myself would go for a 550 watts PSU, because it will give more headroom for future upgrades. And if not for future upgrades, you're less likely to stress out your PSU/lower temps in there.

I myself am using a 800 watt Zalman PSU. Most people wouldn't recommend Zalman, because it's lesser-known. (although it's a solid PSU) And my system only needs something like 400-450 watts. I can have my PSU "full with dust" without it blowing up. (still not recommended to have a PSU full with dust)

Maybe that would explain it?
