Looking for a new budget-ish to mid range 1tb gen3 (b450 mobo) boot/c drive for my daily applications.  Think my current one is dying and causing random freezes and reboots. Not a content creator, just general use, m. office work and some light gaming (league and poe). Have a separate drive for larger files.

Been looking at the crucial p3 and wd sn570? but I think they’re both dram-less and unsure if that will play a factor. Also been looking at the hp ex950 for a similar price, but unsure if the pricing is wrong on my local site. Any other recommendations are welcome, not limited to those 2 and price can be flexible. Mainly want longevity and stability.

Been through a couple nvme’s the past few years across 2 systems and don’t really like the hassle of reformatting often.

Thanks in advance!

Yeah, are you after high-end or value?

Here where I live a good high-end Kingston KC3000 2TB is ~180€ (though it is a pcie 4.0). A cheaper 3.0 drive costs around 110€.

If from US it is a bit different though.

Anyway Adata SX8200 Pro is still a good choice I believe - https://pcpartpicker.com/product/kQZzK8/adata-xpg-sx8200-pro-2-tb-m2-2280-nvme-solid-state-drive-asx8200pnp-2tt-c

In-between. I live in Hong Kong so prices more or less resemble those in the states, minus the deals. Don’t need pcie 4.0 because my mobo doesn’t support it. Just looking for something reliable that isn’t too shitty or over the top for my needs.

For 2TB the PcPartPicker - https://hk.pcpartpicker.com/products/internal-hard-drive/#c1=di_m2.pcie_30_x4&A=1920000000000,22000000000000&sort=price&page=1

The Samsung 970 EVO is the best option in my opinion. https://hk.pcpartpicker.com/product/Fv8j4D/samsung-970-evo-plus-2-tb-m2-2280-nvme-solid-state-drive-mz-v7s2t0bam

Perhaps if looking a more affordable-  https://hk.pcpartpicker.com/product/2vVmP6/intel-670p-2-tb-m2-2280-nvme-solid-state-drive-ssdpeknu020tzx1

Samsung 970 EVO (plus) used to be on the highest tier list, but not anymore -

Any other suggestions maybe a tier below? The 970 evo is slightly pricier than what I had in mind. Also don’t need 2tb, 1tb should suffice for my needs.

Thoughts on the hp950 ex 1tb?

1TB HP EX950 should be good, but the price difference with 2TB Samsung 970 EVO is not too big.

For 1TB nvme drive i'd go with - https://hk.pcpartpicker.com/product/B8FKHx/pny-xlr8-cs03040-1-tb-m2-2280-nvme-solid-state-drive-m280cs3040-1tb-rb

In the SSD tier list B tier.

In the SSD tier list B tier.

I converted from my local prices to USD. All 1tb.

Wd sn570 - $65

Crucial p3/plus - $66/$75
hp ex950 - $68

intel 670p - $77

Samsung 970 evo -$89

PNY cs3040 - $102

thanks for the help btw, appreciate it
