Asking the internet, if the internet is correct: yes. As long as you use the AMD provided backplate.

That's what I heard as well, wasn't there something about different screw length tho?

Conflicting information online. That's why. Thought I'd ask a proper tech forum and try and get a clearer answer. And thanks for that.

I'll be able to tell you soon. I'm doing an am5 upgrade for a mate atm and I'm going to try and reuse his u12a.

Does am4 cpu coolers fit on am5 boards? Without a  seperate mounting kit? Been reading that you can as long as you use the amd backplate.

Another thread recently verified this does work, however, be forewarned, AM5 are known to idle at 80+. I suggested a thin metal plate between the cooler base and CPU lid to possibly help improve contact and heat dissipation to someone with this problem last night or before.

I don't badmouth others' input, I'd appreciate others not badmouthing mine. *** More below ***

Due to the above, I've likely revised posts <30 min old, and do not think as you do.

Screw length was fine. The cooler went on easy and is tight and well connected. Temps are great. So yeah it works.

Lol no need for all that. At least this combo im using. I have a 7900x idling at 52c, 75c under a gaming test and 87c under cinibench. That's while using a noctua nh-u12a chromax black. I will say that ambient temps are very low here atm. 3c. So that would be adding to it.

Interesting. I've seen video of someone running one open-air with no case and couldn't get ti below 80-85C.
