Depends on which Optiplex. Some towers can take a standard size ATX power supply. SFF desktops and newer towers take a TFX power supply. Mini desktops run on the same AC adapters as contemporary laptops. Sometimes they don't use the standard power supply pinout and require an adapter pigtail.

Dell part number 0VX372 is a higher-wattage power supply from the low end Precision workstations that should be a drop-in replacement for some Sandy Bridge and newer OptiPlex desktops.

I sold my soul for ProSupport.

some have something ATX compatible, some have something ATX compatible but in a weird shape, some have dell's special party that's 'only' +5vsb, +12v and +3v3 in a weird layout. by this point they may even have some +12vsb shit floating around as well.

I was not thinking anything significant more along the lines of $69 gaming pc upgrade.

That hing is old and may be OK for normal office use. And if you ever consider any kind of upgrade, never get one of those boxes. Besides incompatibilities, they don't have cooling. Based on the picture, it doesn't have HDMI or DP. I think it is way overpriced, even if you just need a PC for browsing.

I would never buy this, and I agree.  I only have it because my mother wanted something cheap to stream sat radio.  I just want to upgrade it to make a basic video streaming watching machine as well as some light gaming.

I intend to use for video streaming and for potato gaming if my other pc's stop working.  I already have a GT710 for this.  I was also thinking of changing the case to something less annoying.

That might be a trick, Dell systems are known to be rather proprietary

Yeah, some company or government probably gave them away for free, or even paid a "recycler" to "recycle" them.

OP: the board may not be ATX compatible at all. The standoffs can be at the wrong location. The board also may be too large. Like the front ports could be part of the MB and the MB was made wider and won't fit in a regular case. Power connector may be proprietary. it has no cooling for any upgrade. Dell does that so that manufacturing cost them $0.01 less.Saw some recent GN video about how they still do that nowadays. So look before before buying anything for this. They are made to be bought, and thrown away if a single piece fails out of warranty. They are the opposite of what ATX enables us to do. You may just want to buy or build a whole new PC and use this as a backup. And no, no one will buy it for that price. I see PCs like that that are a few years more modern for way  under $100 here on CL.

That CPU was released in 2009.
