Jingsha x99 Dual F2 - No Boot

Barax

Hi,

First post here. Let me know if anything is wrong with it.

I am trying to boot a Jingsha x99 Dual F2. Right now it only has 1 x E-2698 v4 cpu connected. Does this motherboard work with only 1 CPU? Does it need to be in a particular slot? There is just a beeping sound, all components power up but no BIOS shows up

Thanks

Swap the CPU into the other socket. If it can run with only one CPU, it may have a primary socket and the single CPU needs to be in that. Otherwise it may only run with 2 CPUs. Not sure if there's any sort of manual for these boards that could confirm either way, not seeing one from some quick google-fu.

Thanks Zando!

Not even with long google searches... manual was not even in the box itself... Do not have high hopes for this build but worth a try.

Will try swapping slots. If no joy, will try with 2 cpus.

They can be fun systems to tinker with, but you will find no mobo manuals anywhere, AFAIK they simply don't exist, unless you go scanning QR codes and get something "manual-ish" from there.

Quick update!

Moving the CPU to the other slot worked. As in, it boots, and now getting error code 53. Some research reveals its memory. I tried to cheat and use desktop DDR4 2400 but it is not compatible. Will try with ECC ram and check

ECC

Welcome to the fun world of Chinese salvage boards. THe chipset is likely pulled from a server and said server only accepted ECC. Some of these slavage boards have a lot of work put into them to open up options, others are as you are seeing, quite constrained.

Ok so... keeping this updated, I hope it helps others.

From some googling. EE means bad memory. I removed the battery with the power off and left it for 5mins. Reseated all modules, then did a CMOS reset and powered up.

There are signs of life now, The keyboard numlock light is on and works, no video and getting AE post code now.
