Laptop HDD Replacement Help

So here is the story,

I currently have a toshiba satellite l305-s5937, and tested the hdd speed and its only 50mb/s. I know the laptop only supports sata 2 speeds but would it be a difference if i put an ssd in it. It wont use the ssd to the fullest, but would it be above 150mb/s?

 

Question: Would ssd be worth putting in laptop.

 

PS.getting a new laptop is not in the possible future

I know with my netbook I was getting 40MB/s with my HDD, and with my Samsung 840 EVO, I'm getting about 140MB/s. SATA 2, even. Just I'm bottlenecked like crazy.
