Computer randomly turns of then kinda boot loops?

Meeran

Hi there!

I have been having this very odd issue with my computer for a year or so now but currently it is unusable.

When I turn my computer on it randomly just turns off then on again, it can happen a second after it turns on, it can happen when windows has just loaded, it can happen after 10 minutes of using it, it’s very random and makes no sense.

My specs are

7700k

Asus maximus ix hero motherboard

32gb ram

corsair 750x power supply

I am very stuck and don’t know where the issue is coming from, I don’t know what i’m meant to change , or replace, or fix cause no error code presents it self

my theory is when the weather is very humid my computer acts up, but this doesn’t really make sense

any suggestions ???

thanks

You could check your CMOS battery. It’s recommended to change them every 5 years, your motherboard is probably due for a new battery.

I replaced my CMOS battery last year, but surely this can’t be it, cause a computer can function without one it just won’t save the BIOS information if i’m not wrong?

Depending on the motherboard, a dead CMOS battery “may” show several symptoms in your pc. Random restarts can be one. Not extremely likely, but it’s quick to check it and rule it out

i don’t believe it’s dead, i’ve even taken the battery out and tried to use the computer and the issue persists

Wow ok, that's a decent model actually, but there can always be a defective unit that slips pass QC but since you're on a 7700K, should have gone past that phase of whether issues arise.

Next thing to check would be the CMOS battery if it needs to be replaced, as they can be wonky when they're getting old. Also, the power supply button would be the next thing to rule out but since it's occurs randomly, points to an issue with the motherboard.

Bump … please can anyone help me I am going insane over this issue.

extra Info: when I unplug the CPU cable the computer will not keep rebooting it will simply just post an error code on the motherboard, or when I pull the ram out it won’t keep rebooting it’ll just post an error code, but when everything is plugged in it reboots every few seconds
