Halo all,

so I just checked online that the 780ti box has 2x 2 molex to 8 pin adapters. Unfortunately the box and the cable got lost. In my power supply there are only 1x6+2 pins and 6 pins, That means i need 1 more 8-pin (the card needs 2x8-pin). The question is, is it better to use 2x Molex to 8-pin adapter, or 6-pin to 8-pin adapter. BTW my psu is teamseven st-650w 80+ bronze and I don't think I will be buying a new psu any time soon.

Thanks

That is a sus PSU.

It's a split rail design from what I can see, so you have two 12V rails; rail #1 provides 20A and rail #2 provides 30A. Make sure you're running that card off rail #2 for best results, it is hopefully labeled on the PSU outputs.

As for adapters, either one will work "fine" but they're not great solutions for the long run. Thankfully a 780 Ti isn't the worlds most aggressive card power-wise. They're typically 250W TDP, so roughly 20A sustained current. Hence why I suggest making sure it runs off rail #2.

The New Machine: Intel 11700K / Strix Z590-A WIFI II / Patriot Viper Steel 4400MHz 2x8GB / Gigabyte RTX 3080 Gaming OC w/ Bykski WB / x4 1TB SSDs (x2 M.2, x2 2.5) / Corsair 5000D Airflow White / EVGA G6 1000W / Custom Loop CPU & GPU

The Rainbow X58: i7 975 Extreme Edition @4.2GHz, Asus Sabertooth X58, 6x2GB Mushkin Redline DDR3-1600 @2000MHz, SP 256GB Gen3 M.2 w/ Sabrent M.2 to PCI-E, Inno3D GTX 580 x2 SLI w/ Heatkiller waterblocks, Custom loop in NZXT Phantom White, Corsair XR7 360 rad hanging off the rear end, 360 slim rad up top. RGB everywhere.

First of all, thank you for answering. And I just found on the internet that 2molex to 8 pins supplied a maximum of 120W and 6 to 8 pins only 75W. If you were me, which one you will choose (in the case of not buying a new PSU)
