You can't use a Xbox 360 without a membership. You are either Gold or silver.
As far as I am aware, as long as you have internet access then yes you can.There may be some exceptions for some games however.

OP yes u can well u just make a silver account which is free then u can update everything.

 

Edit: i think some features need gold tho i think u need gold to use netflix etc could be wrong.

@JAKEBAB is right. LGA 2011 doesn't have integrated grapgics so you need a GPU to run displays.

again he is right, for some services you need gold. Silly, but that's how it is.
