Need help with an upgrade for a nvidia fanboy.

Current specs are 500 watt PSU and 560 (ti)

Price all up needs to be below $500 aus.

He needs a GPU and a PSU. (needs a PSU because the one he has is a no name piece of shit)

Gaming is the main use (monitor is 1600xsomething, will go up to 1080p soon though). Going to need to last a while.

My initial thoughts were:

http://www.pccasegear.com/sc/fZh

until he refused cos AMD cards are "unreliable" or something. He is a blatant fanboy as he doesn't know much about tech.

soo i went with this

http://www.pccasegear.com/sc/efG

but it isn't exactly a great card for new games, sure it's a decent card, but won't hold up that well to say, TW3.

I was thinking a 770 but I can't find one that cheap.

Any ideas on how to convince him that AMD cards are fine, or a build that is a bit more (get ready for the cringe) ***future proof***

Beneath this mask there is more than flesh. Beneath this mask there is an idea, Mr. Creedy, and ideas are bulletproof.

As I get older I get angrier more cynical, meaner. I feel some warning posts coming. I feel a ban coming. I was warned.

Why does he needs a new psu?

Why does he needs a new psu?

Because it's a no name PSU that has a history of stuffing up.  Been replaced twice now, but the warranty is out.

at 1600x900, the 760 should really have no problems.

He'll be happy to save some money.
If he doesn't like the psu, give him articles showing that you don't need a 1000 watt power supply.

Woo!
